A Mothball-Scented Horror Comedy

This year, Fantasia’s presentation of A Fantastic Fear of Everything marks the debut (as both a writer and director) of singer Crispian Mills (son of Hayley Mills and director John Boulting of Twisted Nerve). A very British comedy that flirts with horror due to the nature of its subject matter, it stars comic extraordinaire Simon Pegg, the Winchester crazy little red-head from Shaun of the Dead. It’s a captivating story topped with a generous layer of visual treats, and before entering the room, be sure to check your psychoses at the door, as those of the protagonist are comically contagious.

Jack (Pegg) had the brilliant idea of taking his career in http://www.spectacularoptical.ca/2021/02/best-online-generic-levitra/ a new direction. Leaving behind his life as a writer of children’s stories, he reinvents himself as a suspense writer. His first book, titled Decades of Death, will be about Victorian era serial killers. In an effort to make his book as accurate as possible, Jack fully immerses himself in his subject; so cialis or levitra which is best much so that he becomes obsessed with the hidden evil in everyone. Gradually, his morbid distrust forces him to shut himself in his home, away from the murderers who wander around his neighbourhood looking for their next victim – no doubt, a ginger named Jack. Unexpectedly, a U.S producer is interested in his work and wants to meet with him. To make matters worse for Jack, he has long since exhausted his supply of presentable clothes, resorting now to a strict uniform of grandpa-style pyjamas. In his state of distress, he understands that he must go to a public Laundromat, a place he has avoided like the plague mix levitra and cialis ever since an unfortunate childhood event. If he wants any hope of getting his life back on track, he will have to face his obsessive fantasies once and for all.

As usual, Simon Pegg makes use of every tool in his acting arsenal to breathe life into his character. His gestures and facial expressions are, as always, worth their weight in gold; the perfect interpretation for this protagonist penned by Crispian Mills.

A Fantastic Fear of Everything is an exercise in pure style. The sets have been pieced together in such a way that screams vintage; one can almost smell the mothballs. It also features a stop-motion animation sequence to illustrate one of Jack’s children’s stories.

As they say, “one man’s misfortune is another man’s gain” and this is absolutely the case when watching A Fantastic Fear of Everything. We can’t help but take the piss right out of this guy who’s afraid of his own shadow, and guilt doesn’t enter the equation as the whole point of comedy is simply to make people laugh, right?
